The Horses

Most of my horses were born on the estate, brought up and educated by myself not only for trick riding but also for driving, dressage and hacking.

Being with these horses for so long permits us to develop a long lasting relationship with them which is primordial in our work.

The horse is a very powerful, noble creature, but is also very soft and lively. The relationship we have with horses is much more sensory than intellectual, this is by touching, feeling and movement. Youngsters suffering from relational difficulties come into their own with the horses, they do not need to know human language to comunicate with them.

The reactions of the horse tells us the state of mind of the youngster, even if we cannot see it. The horse picks up on any problems they could have and lets us know at once, this way we can deal with any problems much faster than we could otherwise.

Harmonizing of the body and soul can be accomplished by all the work the youngsters have to do : feeding, watering, grooming, healing wounds, etc...   This work with the horses controls the youngsters as horses do not tolerate agitation and confusion. The horse always comes first, this way the youngsters are obliged to put themselves in second place and with this quite often forget their own problems and stop feeling sorry for themselves.

When in contact with horses, all younsters, no matter how rebellious they are, come against stronger than themselves, this helps them control their fear and their violence.

The horse world builds up their self esteem. It requires patience, modesty, rigour and perseverance, all these values help the younsters progress. Practicing equitation helps them to depasse their own limits and to know where they are, understanding their own mental state and the signals they send out.

The horse is a prey, in this way he is receptive to all negative vibrations. Every step forward, no matter how small, is very rewarding and gives a huge amount of pleasure, on the other hand a failure makes the youngsters wonder what went wrong and they have to find a solution to the problem to succeed.

The horse will give eveyone who spends time with him bodily and emotional exchange. This is an interesting learning experience, the youngster will learn about the body and its placing within space, finding balance and learning about rhythm....
